Group B takes shape on Matchday 2 as Canada and Bosnia & Herzegovina meet at BMO Field in Toronto — the first ever men’s World Cup match to be played on Canadian soil.

As co-hosts, Canada earned an automatic berth and arrive in superb form: unbeaten in eight matches, with six clean sheets in that run, and yet to lose a single game in 2026. With a passionate Toronto crowd behind them, Jesse Marsch’s side will be desperate to finally get their World Cup account up and running.

Bosnia & Herzegovina, meanwhile, are back at the tournament for only the second time in their history, having taken the hardest possible road — eliminating both Wales and Italy on penalties in the play-offs to book their place in North America.

0 / 6
Canada have lost all six of their previous men’s World Cup matches and are still chasing their first-ever win at the tournament — a record they’ll fancy their chances of ending in front of a home crowd.

Canada’s recent form makes them deserved favourites: the Opta supercomputer gives the co-hosts a dominant 58.3% chance of victory in pre-match simulations, and they’ve lost just once in their last 28 matches at BMO Field.

There are some fitness concerns for Marsch, with captain Alphonso Davies a doubt through a hamstring issue and Moïse Bombito also short of full fitness. Bosnia’s talisman Edin Džeko, their all-time leading scorer with 73 goals, is also questionable to feature in what would be his final World Cup at the age of 40.

Player to Watch

Jonathan David

With Davies sidelined and Džeko a doubt, Canada’s attacking spark falls heavily on Jonathan David, who is closing in on 40 international goals and will spearhead the line in Toronto. Against a Bosnian side that conceded chances throughout their gruelling play-off run, David looks a strong shout to open the scoring on home soil.

Match Result

Canada to Win

Unbeaten in eight, with six clean sheets in that run and home advantage at a ground where they’ve lost just once in 28 games, Canada look the value pick to finally land that elusive first World Cup win.

Corners

Under 10.5 Corners

Each of Bosnia & Herzegovina’s last eight matches has produced under 10.5 corners — a trend that fits a side built to sit in, stay compact and make the game scrappy against a higher-ranked opponent.

TRNDR Prediction
CAN 1–0 BIH

Bosnia have proven they’re not a side that gets blown out — they just knocked out Italy playing this way. But Canada’s defensive solidity, home support and superior squad depth should be enough to grind out a narrow win and finally end their long wait for a World Cup victory.
