Spain vs Saudi Arabia: World Cup betting preview

pain and Saudi Arabia meet in a pivotal Group H clash on Saturday evening with qualification for the knockout stages potentially on the line.

Neither side managed to win their opening matches. Spain were frustrated in a shock 0-0 draw against Cape Verde, while Saudi Arabia produced one of the results of the first round by holding Uruguay to a 1-1 draw.

That leaves Group H finely balanced heading into matchday two.

For Spain, there is already pressure to respond. Luis de la Fuente’s side entered the tournament as one of the favourites after lifting Euro 2024 and establishing themselves as one of the most exciting teams in international football. However, their failure to break down Cape Verde exposed some of the issues that can arise when opponents defend deep.

The good news for Spain is that they still created plenty of chances, with Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams and Pedri all showing flashes of quality despite the disappointing result.

Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, will be full of confidence after their draw against Uruguay. The Green Falcons defended superbly for large periods and showed enough attacking threat to earn a valuable point.

However, backing up that performance against a wounded Spain side could prove a much tougher challenge.

Spain to Win & Over 2.5 Goals

Spain know they cannot afford another slip-up.

After being held by Cape Verde, expect La Roja to play with greater urgency from the first whistle. Their attacking talent remains among the best in the tournament and they should create significantly more chances against a Saudi Arabia side likely to spend long periods defending.

The Green Falcons deserve respect after frustrating Uruguay, but Spain possess a level of technical quality that few teams can match.

A Spain victory combined with over 2.5 goals looks one of the strongest betting angles in this fixture.

Lamine Yamal Anytime Goalscorer

The teenage superstar remains Spain’s most dangerous attacking weapon.

Yamal was one of the few players to consistently threaten Cape Verde’s defence in the opening match and continues to be the player most capable of producing a moment of magic when Spain need it.

His ability to cut inside from the right wing, beat defenders and find the corners makes him a nightmare opponent. With Spain expected to dominate possession, opportunities should come his way throughout the game.

If Spain finally find their shooting boots, Yamal looks a strong candidate to get on the scoresheet.

Score Prediction: Spain 3-0 Saudi Arabia
