Real Madrid have issued an official statement denying reports that they have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich star Michael Olise amid growing speculation over the French winger’s future.
The Spanish giants have been heavily linked with a blockbuster move for the former Crystal Palace attacker in recent weeks, with reports suggesting club president Florentino Perez views Olise as one of the biggest transfer targets in world football.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano added fuel to the rumours earlier this week when he reported that Olise remained Real Madrid’s “dream” signing and that the 24-year-old had been discussed in club meetings in recent days. Romano also claimed Bayern Munich were determined to keep hold of the France international and were prepared to offer him a lucrative new contract.
However, Real Madrid have now moved to publicly distance themselves from reports suggesting they have already agreed personal terms with the player.
In a statement highlighted by Romano on social media, the club denied making any contact with Olise or his representatives.
According to the statement, Real Madrid insisted they have “not maintained any direct or indirect contact” with the Bayern winger, his agents or anyone close to him. The club also stressed the strong relationship it enjoys with Bayern Munich and expressed frustration at what it described as inaccurate speculation.
Madrid went on to emphasise that any potential interest in a Bayern player would first be discussed directly between the two clubs, in keeping with the mutual respect that has existed between the European giants for decades.
The statement comes after a wave of reports suggested Los Blancos were preparing a huge bid for Olise following his outstanding performances for Bayern and France. Some reports even claimed Madrid were considering offers well in excess of €150 million as they look to strengthen their attack.
Bayern’s stance, however, has remained unchanged throughout the saga. Club officials have repeatedly indicated that Olise is not for sale, with one Bayern executive recently claiming the winger is effectively “priceless” to the Bundesliga champions.
Olise, who left Crystal Palace for Bayern in 2024, has established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting attacking players and is currently focused on France’s World Cup campaign.
While Real Madrid’s statement appears to cool the speculation for now, Romano’s reporting suggests admiration for the winger certainly exists inside the Bernabeu. Whether that admiration eventually turns into a formal approach remains to be seen once the World Cup comes to an end.
