Switzerland and Bosnia and Herzegovina meet in a crucial Group B clash on Wednesday evening with both sides looking to take a major step towards the World Cup knockout stages.
After opening the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Qatar, Switzerland know that victory here would put them in a strong position heading into their final group match against Canada. Bosnia, meanwhile, also drew their opener against Canada and are equally aware of the importance of claiming all three points.

The Swiss arrive as slight favourites thanks to their experience at major tournaments. Switzerland have qualified for six of the last seven World Cups and have built a reputation as one of Europe’s most organised international sides. Murat Yakin’s squad contains plenty of quality, with Granit Xhaka, Manuel Akanji and Dan Ndoye all expected to play key roles.
Bosnia are appearing at only their second World Cup and have already shown they are capable of competing at this level. A hard-fought draw against Canada demonstrated their resilience, while the experience of Edin Dzeko and technical quality of Amar Dedic and Benjamin Tahirovic give them genuine attacking threat.
With both teams sitting on one point after their opening matches, this has all the makings of a tense and closely fought encounter.

Switzerland to Win
Switzerland’s experience on the international stage could prove decisive.
The Swiss are notoriously difficult to beat and have consistently performed well against teams of a similar level over recent years. Their defensive organisation remains one of their biggest strengths, while Xhaka’s leadership in midfield often allows them to control matches against less experienced opponents.
Bosnia certainly have enough quality to make life difficult, but Switzerland’s greater tournament know-how gives them the edge.
Dan Ndoye Anytime Goalscorer
Dan Ndoye has developed into one of Switzerland’s most dangerous attacking players.
The winger’s pace and direct running regularly cause problems for defenders, and he enters this tournament after an excellent season at club level. With Bosnia likely to sit relatively deep, Ndoye’s ability to create space and attack defenders one-on-one could become a major factor.
If Switzerland are to secure the victory they need, Ndoye looks one of the most likely players to make the difference in the final third.
Score Prediction: Switzerland 2-1 Bosnia and Herzegovina
