Fair play if you’re staying up for this one…
The final fixture of the opening round in Group F sees Sweden take on Tunisia in a match that could have a major impact on the battle for second place.
Following the entertaining 2-2 draw between the Netherlands and Japan, both Sweden and Tunisia know that victory would leave them in an excellent position heading into their second group matches.
Sweden arrive at the tournament with plenty of confidence after a strong qualifying campaign and possess a squad packed with experience. Liverpool striker Alexander Isak is the headline name, while Viktor Gyokeres comes into the World Cup after another prolific season in front of goal.

Tunisia, meanwhile, are appearing at their seventh World Cup and continue to be one of Africa’s most difficult teams to break down. The Eagles of Carthage have built their success on organisation and defensive discipline, often keeping games tight against technically superior opponents.
While Sweden arguably possess more attacking quality, Tunisia’s ability to frustrate opponents means this could be a far closer contest than the bookmakers suggest.

Sweden to Win
Sweden’s attacking options could ultimately be the difference.
The Scandinavian side have consistently performed well against teams outside Europe’s elite and boast genuine firepower through Isak, Gyokeres and Nygren. Tunisia’s defensive structure should keep the game competitive, but Sweden’s quality in the final third gives them the edge.
With Tunisia often struggling to score against stronger opposition, backing Sweden to collect all three points looks the safest route into the match..

Alexander Isak Anytime Goalscorer
If Sweden are to win, there is a strong chance Alexander Isak will play a decisive role.
The Liverpool forward has developed into one of Europe’s most complete strikers and arrives at the tournament in outstanding form. His combination of pace, movement and finishing makes him Sweden’s biggest attacking threat.
Isak has become increasingly important for his national side over the past two years and should receive plenty of service from Gyokeres. Against a Tunisia defence that may spend long periods under pressure, he looks a strong candidate to get on the scoresheet.
Score Prediction: Sweden 2-0 Tunisia
