Real Madrid Eye Alexis Mac Allister as Liverpool Star Linked with Summer Move

Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister ahead of the summer transfer window, with fresh claims suggesting the Argentine could be a long-term target for the Spanish giants.

According to reports circulating around European football, Madrid are planning to strengthen their midfield in 2026 and have been assessing several elite options. Mac Allister has emerged as one of the names under consideration thanks to his technical ability, tactical intelligence and winning pedigree.

The 27-year-old joined Liverpool from Brighton in 2023 for a fee worth around £55 million, quickly establishing himself as a key figure in the Reds’ midfield rebuild. Since arriving at Anfield, he has been praised for his composure on the ball and his ability to control games from deep positions.

“Real Madrid Reserves” Comment Sparks Debate

Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness caused controversy by suggesting Liverpool have effectively become a talent source for Real Madrid.

He pointed to the growing links between the clubs and suggested Mac Allister could follow a similar path to other players who have attracted interest from the Spanish side.

Wyness said the Argentina international might be more likely to join Madrid than teammate Dominik Szoboszlai if Los Blancos decide to move for a Liverpool midfielder.

The comment also referenced the recent trend of Madrid tracking several Liverpool players, including centre-back Ibrahima Konaté, whose contract situation has reportedly caught the attention of clubs across Europe.

Real Madrid Midfield Rebuild

Real Madrid are expected to refresh their midfield options in the coming seasons as the club gradually transitions away from the legendary trio of Luka Modrić, Toni Kroos and Casemiro who dominated European football for much of the last decade.

Reports suggest Madrid are evaluating a shortlist of targets that includes:

  • Alexis Mac Allister
  • Enzo Fernández
  • Moisés Caicedo

Mac Allister’s World Cup-winning experience with Argentina and his versatility across midfield roles make him an appealing profile for the Spanish champions.

Liverpool Unlikely to Sell Easily

Despite the speculation, Liverpool are in a strong contractual position. Mac Allister signed a deal that runs until 2028, meaning the club would likely demand a substantial transfer fee if Madrid were to make a formal approach.

Liverpool also view him as a central figure in their long-term midfield structure, making a departure far from straightforward.

For now, the links remain speculative. But with Real Madrid constantly scanning Europe for elite midfield talent, Mac Allister’s name is unlikely to disappear from transfer conversations anytime soon.
