US fried chicken giant Popeyes is officially making its move into the Republic of Ireland.
The fast food brand has submitted a planning application to open its first store in Dublin — targeting a prime spot on Westmoreland Street in the city centre.
This follows the chain’s debut on the island last year, when it opened a restaurant in Belfast. Popeyes now plans further expansion across Ireland.
Owned by PLK Chicken Ireland Ltd, the franchise is part of a major UK and Irish rollout. Since landing in Britain in 2021, Popeyes has already launched over 65 UK restaurants, generating £150 million a year.
With the backing of private equity firm TDR Capital, the brand aims to open 45+ new stores in 2025 alone, rapidly scaling its presence.
Finger lickin’ future? Dublin’s about to find out.
