Piers Morgan: Man Utd No Longer a ‘Big Club’ – Here’s Why

Piers Morgan has reignited football Twitter with a brutal takedown of Manchester United, claiming the Red Devils no longer deserve to be classed as a “big club.”

After United’s 4-1 hammering at the hands of Newcastle on Sunday — their 14th Premier League defeat of the season — the outspoken Arsenal fan took to social media to share his thoughts.

“It’s time Manchester United was officially downgraded from being categorised as a ‘Big Club’. To be that, other teams have to fear you, and nobody’s feared United for many years now,” he posted.

United’s current campaign is shaping up to be one of their worst in modern history, with the club heading for their lowest points total since the 1989/90 season — when Sir Alex Ferguson’s side scraped just 48 points. That season was only saved by an FA Cup triumph.

Now, history could repeat itself, with United’s only realistic hope of redemption coming from the Europa League. But with a second-leg clash against Lyon looming, failure to progress could leave their season in tatters.

When a follower clapped back at Morgan for hyping Arsenal — a club that’s also endured a silverware drought — he doubled down hard:

“Mate, you’re 14th in the league and just got hammered 4-1 by Newcastle. We’re second in the league and just hammered European Champions Real Madrid 3-0.”

“Your trophies were meaningless which is why Ten Hag got fired. ‘Big Clubs’ only care about the Premier League and Champions League.”

Harsh? Maybe. Wrong? That’s up for debate.

But one thing’s for sure — Piers never misses a chance to poke the United bear.
