Morgan Rogers has gone from Manchester City reject to one of the most valuable players in the Premier League.
According to CIES Football Observatory, the Aston Villa star is now valued between £95m and £109m – more than Alexander Isak, despite the Newcastle striker’s career-best 23 league goals last season. Isak, who has been the subject of a rejected £110m bid from Liverpool, is valued at £84m–£97m.
Rogers, 23, failed to make a single senior appearance for Pep Guardiola’s side and was sold to Middlesbrough for just £1m in 2023. Villa snapped him up a year later for an initial £8m, and he exploded in the 2024/25 season with 14 goals and 16 assists in 54 appearances. His form earned him the PFA Young Player of the Year award and a new long-term contract.
Guardiola insists Rogers’ exit was purely down to timing, with the youngster stuck behind the likes of De Bruyne, Mahrez, Silva, Sterling and Sané. “Of course, everyone knows how good Morgan is,” Pep admitted. “I’m happy for him – he’s exploded and is now top-class. England have another exceptional player.”
With Arsenal and Tottenham linked in the past, Villa are determined to keep hold of their breakout star – who now finds himself valued higher than one of the Premier League’s most in-demand strikers.
