Manchester United Submit €85m Bid for Benjamin Sesko Amid Newcastle Rivalry

Manchester United have officially entered the race to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, submitting a bold €85 million (£73.8m) offer to outmuscle Premier League rivals Newcastle United, according to reports from Bild.

Newcastle had already seen two offers rejected — their latest worth €80m plus €5m in add-ons — leaving the door open for United to swoop in.

Sesko, 22, enjoyed a breakout campaign last season, netting 13 Bundesliga goals, and has been on the radar of several top clubs. Both United and Newcastle have been informed that the Slovenian forward is open to joining either club, keeping the battle alive as negotiations intensify.

Leipzig, while reluctant to lose one of Europe’s most promising young strikers, acknowledged his absence from Saturday’s friendly against Atalanta was due to “very concrete interest” from multiple clubs. He’ll also skip first-team training this week while talks continue.

United’s move marks a major push to bolster their attack after a disappointing 15th-place finish last season. Sesko is viewed as a long-term No.9 solution with physicality, pace, and a clinical edge — qualities Amorim is desperate to add.

With the 2025/26 season fast approaching, the pressure is now on Leipzig to make a decision — and on Sesko to choose red or black-and-white.
