Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund is expected to complete a move to Napoli “within 48 hours” after a €45m package was agreed, according to reports in Italy.
United are offloading players late in the window following a summer spend of close to £200m, and Højlund is one of those deemed surplus by head coach Rúben Amorim.
Napoli have been negotiating for weeks, with Fabrizio Romano’s compatriot Nicola Schira reporting that an initial €5m loan with a €40m buy option has been given the green light. Personal terms until 2030 worth €5m-a-year are also said to be agreed.
Højlund, 22, had publicly insisted he wanted to fight for his place at Old Trafford after a strong pre-season, but former teammate Scott McTominay has been pushing him towards Serie A, and United’s stance has hardened in the final days of the market.
If completed, the deal would see United recoup a significant portion of their outlay while freeing funds for further reinforcements before the 1 September deadline.
