Liverpool eye Marc Guehi deal – with Ben Doak swap twist in the mix

Liverpool are pushing to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace – but with talks set to kick off this week, there’s a plot twist.

The Reds reportedly want to avoid paying the full £45–50m asking price, and are instead considering a player-plus-cash offer involving Ben Doak.

👀 Guehi, 24, has just one year left on his deal, and while Palace are open to selling, they won’t roll over for a cut-price bid.
Enter Doak: fresh off a solid loan at Middlesbrough (3 goals, 7 assists), the £25m-rated winger is on Palace’s radar – and Liverpool may use him to sweeten the deal.

🗣️ According to Rudy Galetti, Guehi is already close to agreeing personal terms at Anfield. But Ben Jacobs says the club won’t move forward unless Palace drop their price.

🧠 Liverpool’s Plan B?

If talks break down, Liverpool could pivot to Jorrel Hato (Ajax), a highly-rated centre-back who fits their preferred 18–22 age profile. Guehi, by comparison, is already 24.

Liverpool have already spent big this summer – over £190m – but with Arne Slot keen on a new CB and a striker, the market action is far from over.

Safe to say: he’s not just backup.
