Liverpool are weighing up a blockbuster move for Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise as they quietly prepare for life after Mohamed Salah.
The 23-year-old only swapped Crystal Palace for Bavaria last summer, but he wasted no time making his mark. A dazzling debut season saw him rack up 17 goals and 18 assists, plus a starring role in Bayern’s Club World Cup triumph with three goals and two assists in just five games.
This term, Olise has picked up where he left off – four goals in four appearances already – and it hasn’t gone unnoticed on Merseyside. According to reports, the French winger is on Liverpool’s shortlist as Salah approaches his 34th birthday next year.
Liverpool’s Long-Term Play
Salah’s contract runs until 2027 and he’s still delivering at the highest level, firing Jurgen Klopp’s side to the Premier League crown last season almost single-handedly. But with time ticking, Liverpool are planning ahead.
Olise fits the bill perfectly. A left-footed right winger by trade, he mirrors Salah’s role but brings extra versatility, also thriving centrally as a No.10. He’s skilful in tight spaces, lethal from set-pieces, and a constant creative spark.
The Price Tag
There’s one major hurdle: Bayern aren’t in any rush to sell. Olise is valued at around £87m and has four years left on his deal, meaning it’ll take an eye-watering offer to tempt the German giants into negotiations.
Still, if Liverpool are serious about succession planning, few names carry the same blend of proven quality and untapped potential as Olise.
The big question now: do Liverpool stick with their Egyptian king for as long as possible, or move early to secure the heir to Anfield’s right flank?
