Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that his Cotswolds pub, The Farmer’s Dog, has been hit by hackers — losing a staggering £27,000 in one week.
The Clarkson’s Farm star opened the pub last year, but in his latest Sunday Times column, he admitted that running the venue has been far tougher than expected.
“We were hacked at the Farmer’s Dog last week and swindled out of £27,000,” Clarkson wrote.
Pub nightmares
Alongside the cyber fraud, Clarkson described a string of bizarre and chaotic incidents:
- A woman who vomited into her own cleavage after tripping on her hair extensions.
- A father vs. father punch-up over a stolen pine cone.
- A child locked in the toilets, forcing customers to break down the door with a crowbar.
- A customer demanding compensation after claiming she’d been given the wrong drink — despite CCTV showing otherwise.
The former Top Gear presenter also ranted about drunken misbehaviour, including customers leaving toilets in a “pebbledashed” state and even one man filming himself urinating on pub floors for social media.
Bigger picture
Clarkson said the constant battles with customers, theft, inspectors, and now hackers, show why UK pubs are closing at a rate of one a day.
“It’s hard enough dealing with the vomit, faeces and fights,” he wrote. “But when you add in local authority demands, taxation, and new laws on workers’ rights, it becomes nigh-on impossible to stay sane.”
The 64-year-old ended by suggesting that, compared to running a pub, even farming feels easy.
