Former MasterChef host Gregg Wallace was rushed to A&E in Ashford, Kent, over the weekend after experiencing severe chest pain that left him fearing a heart attack. A source close to him said the stress from ongoing allegations and his fallout with the BBC “feels like betrayal” – adding, “It’s been hell.”
Rumours are swirling that Gregg might sue the BBC after around 50 people came forward with accusations—including groping and exposing himself. Wallace firmly denies everything.
Sources suggest he was dropped from MasterChef just two days after being discharged from hospital. However, the BBC insists they never employed him directly and haven’t “sacked” him.
On August 8, after a nine-month inquiry conducted by law firm Lewis Silkin on behalf of Banijay UK, Gregg posted a statement saying he’s been cleared of the most serious allegations. He branded the probe a “full and forensic six-month investigation”, insisted the worst claims are “baseless”, and hinted he’s bringing in high-powered solicitor Dan Morrison to take action—saying:
“After 21 years with the BBC, I won’t stay silent while my reputation is damaged.”
He reportedly told pals: “The stress of this betrayal brought on my suspected heart attack.”
