Gary Neville’s Premier League predictions mocked after more Man Utd optimism

Gary Neville has once again backed Manchester United for a top-four finish – and fans think his Premier League predictions sound more like parody than analysis.

Speaking on Monday Night Football, Neville admitted he has tipped United for the Champions League places in each of the last eight seasons, despite the club’s struggles. He doubled down this year, insisting new boss Ruben Amorim will “outperform”, even though the team finished 15th last season.

Jamie Carragher was left laughing at his colleague’s optimism. “You pick the United manager every year,” Carragher said, pointing out that Neville had previously tipped Erik ten Hag in similar fashion. Neville responded: “If Amorim starts badly, he’ll be under massive pressure – but I think he’ll deliver.”

Neville also predicted Arsenal will win the title for a third consecutive year, while dropping favourites Liverpool down to third. Carragher wasn’t buying it, highlighting Neville’s argument that one decent performance against Arsenal was evidence of United’s revival. “It was one game,” Carragher snapped.

Neville’s loyalty to his former club has long been a running joke, and this season’s predictions have only added to the banter.
