Jack Grealish is on the verge of swapping Manchester City blue for Everton blue, with Fabrizio Romano confirming his loan move is just hours away from completion.
After being left out of City’s FIFA Club World Cup squad, Pep Guardiola has given the green light for the 29-year-old winger to find regular football elsewhere. Once a £100m marquee signing, Grealish has seen his minutes dwindle since the treble-winning campaign, and a reunion with first-team action now beckons.
Romano’s signature “here we go” arrived alongside the news that Grealish has said “yes” to Everton’s project. A medical is reportedly scheduled for Monday, with the deal expected to be finalised within the next 24 hours.
David Moyes, who revitalised the Toffees last season, will be counting on Grealish to bring creativity and big-game experience to his side. The winger himself is said to be eager for the move, with next year’s FIFA World Cup in mind — and a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad still up for grabs.
Everton weren’t the only club in the race. Another unnamed Premier League side enquired about his availability, but Goodison Park always remained Grealish’s preferred destination.
For Manchester City, the departure leaves Jeremy Doku and Omar Marmoush as Pep Guardiola’s main wide options heading into the new campaign.
If all goes to plan, Jack Grealish could be officially unveiled as an Everton player by Tuesday.
