Chelsea land Garnacho from Man Utd in £40m deal

Chelsea have completed the signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United for £40m, with the winger penning a seven-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old Argentine, who famously scored in the 2024 FA Cup final, had fallen out of favour under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford and was frozen out of first-team training alongside Antony and Jadon Sancho.

Garnacho was in the stands to watch Enzo Maresca’s side beat Fulham 2-0, a result that sent the Blues top of the Premier League, and called the move an “incredible moment” for him and his family.

His signing takes Chelsea’s summer spending beyond £250m, with the club already bringing in Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Estevão and Jamie Gittens to bolster their attacking options.

The transfer could also impact Nicolas Jackson’s proposed loan to Bayern Munich, with Delap suffering a hamstring injury that leaves Chelsea short on strikers.
