Bruno Fernandes Slams ‘Lazy’ Man Utd Display, Calls for Urgent Transfers

Bruno Fernandes didn’t hold back after Manchester United’s pre-season 2-2 draw with Everton — labelling parts of the performance “lazy” and calling for more quality signings ahead of the new campaign.

The United captain, who scored from the spot and played the full 90 minutes in Atlanta, said:

“It’s improving, but it’s not where we want it to be… We looked a bit lazy today and we need to change that.”

While United lifted the Premier League Summer Series trophy, Fernandes made it clear that simply getting by isn’t enough. He highlighted the need for fresh signings to spark internal competition and lift standards within the squad.

“It was crystal clear we needed more competition for the players here. We need more quality so everyone has to fight to get into the starting XI.”

The midfielder acknowledged financial constraints but urged the club to push harder in the market — particularly after a historically poor 15th-place finish last season.

Manager Ruben Amorim backed his captain, saying:

“It shows awareness. I’d rather they feel this pressure and speak up — it means they understand where we’re at.”

With Fernandes demanding higher standards both on and off the pitch, United’s summer rebuild looks far from over.
