TRNDR Take: Scholes Slams United’s Transfer Choices

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes didn’t hold back in his verdict on United’s summer transfer window. In his view:

  • The biggest mistake the club made was letting Gianluigi Donnarumma slip. He repeatedly said that if United didn’t try to sign him when he was available, that was “a criminal offence.”
  • The £18.2m signing in question is Senne Lammens, brought in as goalkeeper. Scholes made it clear he doubts whether Lammens is “top” in that position, pointing to his price tag vs. experience.
  • He also questioned the decision to leave Andre Onana on the bench and to go with Lammens so quickly — saying it took until a match against Grimsby to realise Onana wasn’t delivering.
  • Finally, Scholes criticised United’s sustained failure to strengthen the midfield, particularly with legs and control — areas he felt were badly neglected.
